What is Operation: Love Reunited (OpLove)?
Operation: Love Reunited is a non-profit organization that provides deploying or deployed service members and their family a free, no obligation or strings attached photo session and a 4×6 album of the prints from the session. The way it works is that professional photographers from around the country volunteer their time and talent to provide this service through the OpLove organization. I’m one of those photographers and I know first hand what the service member is going through because at one time, well actually several times, I’ve been in your shoes. I served 10 years in the U.S. Navy and know what it’s like to be away from family and friends for extended periods of time. This is a way for me to give back to those who serve and put their lives on the line every day for our country.
So it’s Free?
Yes, absolutely free. Plus you will never be obligated or pressured into purchasing anything from the OpLove session. In fact, the OpLove organization allows up to 2 photo sessions of the following type, per year:
- Pre-deployment (with service member and family)
- Post deployment. This will be with the service members family since the service member has already deployed.
- R&R
- Homecoming
I would recommend the Pre-Deployment and Homecoming sessions but it’s really up to you. Also, the service member will receive one 4″x6″ photo album from the first photo session. This will be sent directly to the deployed service member as a moral boost. After the second photo session, a digital slide show will be given to the service member and family to share and enjoy.
What do I wear?
It’s best to wear your uniform for the pre-deployment photo session. Your family can dress accordingly. Please keep in mind that the theme of these photo sessions are the military and not traditional family portraits.
Where does the session take place?
This is up to you. Do you have a favorite place where your family like to spend time? There are so many beautiful parks and natural settings but you may also choose a favorite place on base. The goal is for you and your family to be comfortable and for the photos to have a natural feel.
What happens after the photo session?
Within 1 week after the session your photos will be uploaded to a password protected online gallery that can be shared with family and friends. For sessions other than Homecoming, a 4″x6″ session photo album (of photographers choice photos) will also be created and sent directly to the deployed service member.
What if I’d like other prints from the session?
You are more than welcome to purchase additional prints from the photo session at a 25% discount off my standard print prices which start at $40 for prints 8″x12″ and smaller. We offer standard prints on professional photo paper along with canvas gallery wraps and other items for you to choose from.
Do you offer Digital Files from the session?
Yes, I do offer the option to purchase Digital Files from the OpLove session. My Digital Collections start at $280 (this is a 30% discount off the regular price) which includes 5 poses in High Resolution files that are ready to print. I also include a print release and printing guide for your convenience.
