I had a wonderful opportunity to photograph Elizabeth and Joshua in a Pre-Deployment OpLove photo session last week. While the weather was extremely hot and bugs were everywhere, I captured some really nice moments of the two in a relaxing park by the St. Johns river.

Enjoy a quick video of the photos from the shoot!

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 – How To Delete Watermark Presets

I’ve been using the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 beta for about 8 months now. In that time I’ve created several different watermark presets but have not really had time to manage those watermarks. Now that the final release version is available, I’ve updated and installed the final version and deleted all beta version.

The nice thing I found out was that all my watermark presets transferred over to the final release version which was super nice. The only problem now was that I needed to do a little house cleaning and delete some of the watermark presets I created.

Here in-lies the problem… or at least I thought it was… continue on…

OpLove – Jacksonville Photographer

It’s official. I’ve been accepted as an Operation: Love Reunited (OpLove) photographer!

Operation: Love Reunited is a non-profit organization that provides free photo sessions to deployed or soon to be deployed active duty military and their family. As a photographer, I volunteer my time and talent in providing free photo sessions and a free 4×6 photo album to the deployed service member.

Our service members put their lives on the line for us every day and this is a great way to give back to them. I know first hand what it’s like being away from family and friends for months on end as I’ve served in the U. S. Navy for 10 years and experienced several deployments myself. I wish this service would have been around back then but I’m happy that it is now and that I can be a part of it.

If you’d like more information on Operation: Love Reunited. Please visit their web site listed below. Also, if you know of a service member and his or her family that would benefit from this service, please direct them to the web site or to me and I can help them!

Adobe Photoshop CS5 – Content-Aware Fill

One of the new features of Adobe Photoshop CS5 is the addition of Content-Aware to the Fill dialog box. This a an awesome new feature and makes cleaning up areas in photograph really easy. Plus, it does a really nice job.

But while testing this new feature in the CS5 prerelease beta I found that while you could select an area and then press the delete key to bring up the Fill dialog window, the use of the delete key would only work on the Background layer and not on any duplicate layers.

Strange right? This drove me nuts but…

There is a reason for this and it because you can’t “Delete” data from a Background layer to transparency, so that’s why the Fill dialog comes up. It just happens that Adobe lists Content-Aware as the first item in the drop down menu of the Fill window.

While you can use Edit > Fill… from the menu on duplicate layers, I wasn’t satisfied with that option so I decided to start pressing keystrokes to see if I could get the Fill dialog to come up on a duplicate layer. Well sure enough, if you press the Shift+delete key with a selection on a duplicate layer the Fill dialog will appear and you can simply press enter to activate the Content-Aware fill option.

I hope this little tip helps you out while using Content-Aware fill in your work!

Street Performers

We took a little day trip down to St. Augustine, one of our favorite places to hang out for the day. There were a couple street performers and so I snapped a few shots. The dad and son were collecting money for Haiti. I don’t remember their names (sorry, senior moment) but the boy could sing really well.

I didn’t get a chance to talk to the guy by himself but he was singing his heart out. It’s good to see other peoples reactions and that they can find it in their heart to give a couple bucks.

Enjoy!
